Rebecca Yako is a dedicated counselor with a passion for supporting children and families through life’s challenges. Her background includes a variety of roles in the mental health and social services field, including therapist, home study assessor, and Wendy’s Wonderful Kids recruiter. She has worked in diverse settings such as schools, community environments, and office-based practices, always focusing on creating a safe and supportive space for her clients.
Rebecca’s therapeutic approach begins with building strong, trusting relationships. She believes that genuine connection is the foundation of meaningful progress, especially for children who may be navigating trauma or other complex emotions. She frequently uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and is also trained in Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), which helps her guide young clients through healing in a thoughtful and compassionate way.
She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from The University of Akron. While not currently involved in formal committees, Rebecca brings leadership through authenticity and care in every interaction. She believes in being her true self in the therapy room, a quality that helps her build genuine rapport and trust with those she supports.
Outside of work, Rebecca finds joy and balance through music. She’s learning to play the guitar and loves going to concerts, often using music as a personal and therapeutic coping skill.
“In therapy,” Rebecca says, “I believe that healing starts with connection and a willingness to try something new.”
