With a background in both mental health case management and child welfare services, Maddie Stackhouse is passionate about helping individuals and families feel supported, connected, and empowered. Over the course of her career, she has worked with a wide range of populations, including children, adults, families, individuals with disabilities, and justice-involved youth, helping clients navigate challenges while building on their own strengths and resilience.
Maddie has extensive experience connecting people to essential resources such as housing assistance, transportation, shelters, food pantries, and other community supports. She believes meaningful case management involves more than simply providing resources—it’s about helping people recognize and strengthen the internal tools they already possess, while also connecting them with the external supports that can help them move forward.
Her approach is rooted in listening, trust, and genuine human connection. Maddie believes one of the most important things a person can experience is feeling truly heard. She strives to create a space where clients feel comfortable sharing their stories, knowing they will be met with compassion, respect, and support.
One of the most rewarding parts of her work at HWS Best Health Counseling is seeing clients begin to apply the coping skills and strategies they’ve learned in sessions to their everyday lives. Watching people gain confidence and use those tools independently is what continues to inspire her work.
Maddie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ohio University and has always been drawn to roles centered around helping others through difficult moments and transitions. Clients and colleagues often describe her as approachable and easy to talk to, qualities that help her build strong, trusting relationships.
Outside of work, Maddie enjoys reading and spending time with her husband, Chad, and their dog, Lucy. As an avid reader, she often finishes one to two books each week.
Maddie reflects: “People crave connection. Something I’ve learned from working with people is that we all need someone to truly hear us and be present with us.”
