Laiton Carter brings deep dedication and passion to her work as a therapist, advocate, and community leader. Her career began in public service, where she served in roles such as Child Sexual Abuse Advocate in criminal cases, Abuse and Neglect Investigator, and Supervisor with Children Services. She later transitioned into quality assurance work and now leads a nonprofit foundation supporting children in crisis.
Laiton has worked extensively with children of all ages and developmental stages, young adults, and families navigating complex challenges. Her settings have ranged from public service agencies and crisis environments to schools and private practice, always with a focus on safety, trust, and empowerment.
Her therapeutic approach blends intentional listening with collaborative exploration. She works closely with clients to understand their needs and guide them toward the options and paths that align with their goals. Trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and neutral interviewing techniques, Laiton specializes in supporting individuals and families coping with trauma, ADHD symptoms, anxiety, depression, and crisis-related stress.
Laiton holds a Bachelor’s in Social Work from the University of Akron, a Master of Science in Psychology from Grand Canyon University, and a Master of Social Work from Cleveland State University. She is also the founder and CEO of the HRH Foundation, a nonprofit based in Carroll County that serves children facing crisis situations.
Outside the office, Laiton enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her family, especially on their busy family farm. She believes in meeting each person exactly where they are, offering a safe, collaborative space to help them build a healthier, happier, and more successful life.
“As a therapist, I am here for YOU and your success. Sometimes, just having a devoted person who offers you space without judgment is more powerful than any words.”
