Kara Stefanyuk is a dedicated and compassionate counselor who creates a space where clients feel truly heard, supported, and respected. Her work is rooted in the belief that everyone holds resilience within them and with the right support, healing and growth are always possible.
Kara’s background spans a range of roles, including crisis counselor, direct care professional, substance use specialist, and licensed professional counselor (LPC). She has supported adults of all ages, as well as individuals with disabilities and histories of trauma, in settings such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, schools, jails, and crisis text lines.
Her therapeutic style is person-centered and trauma-informed. She meets each client where they are, offering empathy, encouragement, and honest guidance. Kara is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and often supports clients navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and substance use.
Kara earned her Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Kent State University. Her clients can count on her for an open mind, a judgment-free space, and a willingness to go above and beyond to support their goals. “Having someone truly listen,” she says, “and believe in you—even when it’s hard to believe in yourself—can be a powerful part of the healing process.”
Outside of work, Kara finds joy in nature and spending time with her pets. A creative at heart, she also plays several musical instruments and brings that same sense of rhythm and care into her work with clients.
