Lesley Julian is a Counselor at HWS Best Health, where she works closely with newly diagnosed individuals to provide compassionate support and guidance. With a diverse professional background, Lesley has held roles as a Mental Health Therapist, Clinical Director at a Center for Autism, Assistant Behavioral Analyst, and Probation and Parole Officer in both Florida and Ohio. She brings a unique perspective shaped by years of experience in the criminal justice system, residential and outpatient treatment, and community-based services.
Throughout her career, Lesley has worked with a wide range of populations, including individuals with autism, victims of human trafficking, unhoused individuals, veterans, prolific juvenile offenders, security threat groups, individuals living with HIV, those with substance use disorders, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Her slightly unorthodox but gentle and direct therapeutic style allows her to meet people where they are, while drawing from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She specializes in trauma, PTSD, anxiety, ADHD, and LGBTQ-focused care.
Lesley earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from The Ohio State University and has completed training through the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice and the Ohio Probation Officer Training Program. She believes that true healing comes from helping clients address past trauma so they can move forward without feeling “stuck.” Clients working with Lesley will find a therapist who genuinely cares about their well-being and integrates her diverse professional experiences into her practice.
Outside of her work, Lesley is a dedicated artist who paints regularly and finds joy and peace in nature. She spends much of her free time in the mountains or on the water, where she feels most grounded.
“In therapy, I believe there is no cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all approach to the process of healing.”
