Denise Douglass is a counselor at HWS Best Health, bringing extensive experience working with children, families, and diverse community populations. She has spent the majority of her career as a caseworker investigating physical and sexual abuse cases at Mahoning County Children Services and has also served as an Intake Supervisor. Her professional background includes work in hospital and residential settings, drug and alcohol services, and as a Care Coordinator with OhioRISE.
Denise primarily works with children and families, supporting clients across schools, community agencies, and various service settings. Her therapeutic approach is person-centered, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with a focus on trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, self-esteem, and empowerment. She believes that building a trusting, supportive relationship and celebrating progress are essential components of healing and growth.
Denise earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Youngstown State University and her Bachelor of Arts in Juvenile and Family Justice and Sociology, with a minor in Psychology, from Thiel College. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Ohio. Known for her warm, authentic, and encouraging presence, Denise empowers clients to build on their strengths and achieve their personal best.
Outside of work, Denise enjoys laughing, spending time with her family and her two dogs, Rocky and Parker, practicing hot yoga, reading, binge-watching TV series, and organizing gatherings for friends and loved ones. She also has a love for naps, potato chips, and giving gifts that bring joy to others.
