(330) 333-0714
Carey Anderson brings a wealth of experience and heart to her role as BRYT Coordinator and Counselor. In her position, Carey provides direct mental health services to students participating in the BRYT program at Boardman Glenwood Middle School by supporting those returning to school following inpatient mental health or medical hospitalizations, as well as students at risk of requiring such services. She also works with a broader caseload of Boardman students and community clients, helping them navigate life’s challenges with resilience and care.
Carey is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) and Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist II. Her professional background includes over 20 years of service in school-based and nonprofit settings. She served as the Performance Coach at Summit Academy School for Alternative Learners, where she combined leadership with hands-on support. She also worked as a program coordinator at the Trumbull County Educational Service Center.
Her areas of focus include supporting adolescents through mental health challenges, empowering women to build confidence and independence, and guiding individuals through issues like anxiety, depression, grief, and relationship difficulties. Carey’s approach is inclusive and facilitative. She values everyone’s ideas, fosters collaboration, and believes strongly in the collective power of the team.
Carey is known for her passion, communication, and belief in lifelong learning. “I learn from colleagues, co-workers, clients, adolescents, and children,” she says. “There’s so much to learn.”
Outside of work, Carey enjoys arts and crafts, quiet moments by the campfire, and spending time with friends. She's also a two-time cancer survivor—a fact that speaks to her resilience and inner strength. In both life and leadership, Carey believes in humility: “Don’t ask someone to do something you’re not willing to do yourself.”
